Restaurant Menu
This seems like another very expensive restaurant menu design. The small type right in the middle of the page really communicates a more upscale feeling. It seems like a pretty standard way to display the information with the bolded menu items and the unbold descriptions, the categories spaced just above them in all caps to show importance and organization. Overall the negative space is the unique thing about this design because there is so much of it.
Happy Sushi
The font choices of this design really work. The typewriter looking font has a playful nature and goes along well with the other serif fonts on the rest of the page. The bold all caps headlines are really working for the design and having the bold menu items with unbold descriptions breaks up the information and keeps it easy to read and adds variation to the page.
Upscale Menu Design
So the first thing I think of when I see this menu is the word expensive. The small type really communicates that to me as well as the negative space and the simple black on white. The delicate narrow lines at the top and bottom really help to break up the space in a nice way as well. Overall there's not much to this design typography wise, they may have been able to make the bolded items a little bigger to give it a little more hierarchy or variety but otherwise it works.
Amala Thai
I love this thai menu. The colors are amazing and really communicates freshness as well as natural which is also suggested by the leaf designs. The tracking of the menu items to line up into a perfect box down the middle looks great. The font choice with all caps and sans serif is very easy to read, which is especially important in a design that the tracking is so extreme in tightness and space. The script font on the logo really compliments the leaf designs and adds a nice variety against the bold simple font used on the rest of the page. Overall a beautiful design.
Sushi Daily Menu
The design of this menu suggests to me that the restaurant is modern but not too upscale. The basic looking sans serif font is very simple and easy to read, Having the word sushi line up perfectly with the horizantal word accross the page really gives a nice look and doesn't take away from the negative space of the overall design because of its light colors.
The Grill Co.
This menu design has a very fun and playful style to it. the various fonts used really go together because of the alignment and the fact that they sort of alternate between bold and thin in a balanced manner. The way the type is arranged really gives a modern look to the whole design.
Bella Notte
This is a pretty interesting look for a menu. The thing that drew me to this one was the boxes on the left page that go in from different sides. I think this really works for this design because it shows the colors of the wine as well as separates the small amount of type into clear and understandable categories in a neat and organized way. The font choice for MAIN DISHES looks very appropriate for the design and gives a more formal look to the design.
Be Frika
Again, The white text on black is very eye catching and easy to read. The all caps serif font for the titles really give a casual feeling as well as being a little bit old fashion, which is a nice and different look for this burger restaurant. The secondary bold curvy font that appears in the menu items looks nice as well in comparison to the other font choices on the page. Having this variety adds a nice touch and makes it look more modern and more informal.
Beverage Menu
There is a lot of font variation in this design but it really works to create a unique style. The reason that it works so well is that each line of type lines up perfectly inside the dotted lines that seem to be the same size for each category. The stylized font used for COLD BEVERAGES has a nice black and white variation to it as well to go with the rest of the design and helps to get rid of the stark contrast that bold black has on top of white.
Steady Hand
This is another simple and effective design. The bold line used above the word eat really helps to compliment the font used for EAT and TEA because it almost matches the line size. This design also uses good hierarchy because the type size decreases a little until you get into the actual content, which is a nice way to organize as well as keep everything easy to read and understand.
La Comisaria
This is a great design. The white on black at the top is the first thing I notice as well as being the largest size on the page uses good typographical hierarchy. The black boxes with the lines in between right below it i notice second, which is a really appealing design element for being so simple. The simple graphics arent even necessary in this menu because the fonts and the placement of the type speaks for itself to communicate a unique style and appearance in this design.
Drink Menu
This drink menu looks both modern and kind of playful. The font chosen for "cocktails" is kind of decorative, and changes up the usual solid black, and also compliments the dotted lines and the boxes with the numbers which also have a mix of black and white elements. The thin modern font for the descriptions was also a good choice because it does not compete with the titles but it looks clean and easy to read.
J&A
The black background of this design is a nice change from the usual. The best part about this design in particular is the preciseness of the type lines matching up in a perfect box the way that they do. Its an added bonus that they changed up the font to be a bold to a thin on each other line which really helps exaggerate the variation and create a unique style that looks both professional and creative.
Oddfellows
I really like the layout and typography of this design. The fonts used for the categories really looks old timey and kind of western, which really compliments the style of the restaurant. Having some of the menu items in different boxes and lines gives some variation as well as making it look a little bit more informal and playful even. The sans serif font of the actual menu items looks pretty modern and easy to read which helps give the menu a clean appearance with a little bit of fun playful elements. Overall it communicates the style of the restaurant well.
Restorante
This looks like a more expensive upscale menu. The amount of negative space as well as the very small font and the script and serif fonts really help to give it that look. The tracking on everything seems to be higher and really spaces everything out nicely. The way that the prices are displayed all in an even column makes the menu look precise and well designed.
Delicatessen
This is another really great menu design. The tall sans serif font looks perfect for this type of menu and really communicates a sophistication while staying a bit informal. The bold serif fonts for the menu items is very eyecatching as well. Despite the large amount of type on the page, having two columns for it really separates the information well, and provides a lot of negative space for everything to be easier to read.
Publico
This is a beautiful example of good typography. There is a lot of font variation as well as nice spacing between each bit of information. The tracking of the information for the most part lines up with the column in each area, which helps to keep everything neat and clean. The lines separating the type on the left help fill the box and split the information into sections visually which also helps to keep everything neat.
Menu
This menu design is very simple as well. The large bold font of the headlines draws a lot of attention as well as being a nice variation to the tall thin font of the other titles. The font price of the items is a nice variation to the sans serif fonts on the rest of the page.
Size Matters
This simple menu design is clean despite its shapes and spread of information. The badge shape as well as the lines and dotted lines help to separate the information as well as create a clean look to the whole design. The bold serif font really draws attention to the menu items and also compliment the look of the overall design.
Menu Design
This menu design for a wedding is a creative approach to a simple menu. The red colors on the fork and knife really draw attention to the side and even out the balance between the large MENU on the left side. The first bullet point that says ""appetizer" lines up perfectly with the top of the E in menu, and keeps the balance between the vertical word and the horizontal information.
