Dracula

This book cover really got my attention. I think it's brilliant that they used only type to create a clear image of teeth and the commas to represent the fangs. Thinking about type in this way really expands the ways that it can be used. I love that the design is kept very minimalist and there are only 3 colors being used. This is a great idea and it really communicates the idea behind the book well.

The Corpse Exhibition

Another good example of a simple typographic design. This design is interesting because it uses the same title twice. Once laid out from top to bottom of the page, and the second time in white going accross the middle. I think it's cool that they were able to put text inside of text and still maintain readability and keep it from being cluttered by having a loose leading on the black type. It also serves to draw attention to the middle of the page with the white type on black.

Moby Dick

This is another example of a cover that keeps a simple black and white look with strictly typography. I love the way that there is so much text on this cover but in no way does it detract from the title and author of the book. I think the placement of the type is perfect in spreading out the information and providing a zig zag for your eye to follow through the page. The choice of a sans serif font and a tight leading really brings the design together and unifies all the words.

The Edge

I love the simple design of this cover. I think it's great that the designer chose to use only black and white with little gray lines showing the edge going through the middle. I thought it was interesting that the letters look like their being sucked into the line in the middle and having a cover that's mainly typography, it's a nice touch and makes it more interesting while keeping it simple and typographic.

Scientica

This is a good example of a book cover that uses only type to create a design. I love the way that the space is filled by the text and the way that all the letters connect together to form only a small amount of negative space. Another small but significant detail I love about this is the way that the dot on the I is created with negative space. I don't know if it was done on purpose but I really love the way it came out. The use of the pop of red color does a great job of leading the eye right to the title of the book. This design does a nice job of really communicating a modern playful feeling.

Typography Book Cover

I love this design because of the diagonal lines and movement created by the white lines though the text. I think it's super creative that the designer chose to create the whole image through text and lines. I love the bold type used and the way that the lines continue in the T and H to create balance and frame the corner of the text box. I love that this design sticks strictly to black and white and the background creates a texture that appears from a distance to be a lighter grey and creates contrast from the black type. Awesome design overall.

Retro Party

What I really like about this design is the way that they have the type going diagonally in stripes and the way that the background texture on the stripes is more stripes that go in the same direction. I think that, and the way they have the drop shadows really adds interest and depth and breaks up the type to make it more interesting looking and easier to read. I also like the way that the type at the red stripe goes from small to large in the middle and kind of repeats that pattern up until you get to the dates.

Neptune's Moons

This poster really caught my eye because of the color scheme and I also like the way that the words "Neptune's Moons" shape around the circle in the middle. I love the way that there is a very simple design and that the typography really stands out from the background and the design because of the bright color choice against the dark background. This poster is easily readable and the information is spread out and easy to find. This is a great design.

Rooftops

This poster design looks really cool, and I love the choice of colors used. I love the way that the designer used typography to create the image of buildings and added only simple lines to help communicate the idea. I think the font choice was perfect because the way that it is so tall really helps the design look unified and all the elements come together.

Sasquatch

This poster was designed for a music festival. What drew my eye to this poster was the color scheme and the way that it looks very unique in style. I like the way that they divided the type and the graphics by using the ground as a separator. I also like the way that they pulled the colors from the graphics into the headlines of the type which really draws attention to the title and details of the music festival. Overall its a really cool design.
